Deep Blue Pro Color Cameras Used As "Point of View" Cams For Discovery Channel's™ Hit Series "Deadliest Catch"™

The Deep Blue Pro color cameras are mounted on several of the commercial crab fishing boats featured on the Discovery Channel's™ "Deadliest Catch"™. This production features a day in the life of Alaskan commercial crab fishermen. The cameras have now been used for 3 seasons with little or no maintenance which is critical to the production of the show, since the action takes place over short seasons and there is no second take. The cameras are used a point of view cameras overlooking the deck in harsh winter storms and crab tank cameras showing the live wells with as the catch accumulates.

The Deep Blue Goes to Antarctica
The University of Illinois has purchased a SplashCam Deep Blue high performance underwater video camera. Along with the camera, the University also asked Ocean Systems to develop special underwater lighting and digital recording systems. This equipment is being used to study fish habitat in Antarctica. The camera is lowered through a 100 foot hole melted in the ice to a depth of several hundred feet to closely study fish in there natural habitat. The University was very excited to learn that we could provide such robust equipment to survive the harsh environment for thousands of dollars less than our nearest competitors.

Bass Pro Shops Video Production Team Enlightened By The Deep Blue

We have been using your DEEP BLUE underwater video camera system extensively over the past few months. It has more than lived up to our expectations. The open architecture allows it to be used with a wide range of recording devices and its standard plugs make hooking it up quick and painless. In the past we were forced to use a camera specific housing that became obsolete about as fast at the camera it was made for. In addition to the short life span it was also big and bulky and required one to get in the water with the camera to get good shots. Many of the shots we need are quick "splash cam" shots and your camera has made acquiring them much quicker with the same or better results. It sure beats jumping into Lake Superior in the fall to get that quick shot of a walleye. I would also like to acknowledge your staff. Even though the system is pretty straightforward we still had the usual questions once we started using the camera. Every time I called I got the answer I needed quickly and, more importantly, correctly. Service after the sale can be lacking sometimes, especially when it comes to equipment manufacturers. It is reassuring to talk to knowledgeable people that believe in their product and want their customers to succeed with it.

We shoot a lot of underwater video at Bass Pro Shops. In addition to our weekly hunting and fishing show we also do extensive support for Tracker Marine, maker of some of the most popular fishing and pleasure boats in the world. The DEEP BLUE had made that job easier and more effective. The Bullet proof design and construction, excellent image quality, and customer support. I know who I will be calling next time I need a quality underwater camera.

Seattle Aquarium Studies Six Gill Sharks Using SplashCam Underwater Video Equipment
The Seattle Aquarium is in the beginning stages of a multi year study to learn more about the mysterious "Six Gill" sharks of Puget Sound. The Aquarium is set to collect a database of visual indentation clips with an array of permanently mounted SplashCam underwater video cameras. This is collection process is part of a much larger study coordinated with the University of Washington, Washington State Dept. of Fish & Game and the Point Defiance Aquarium to collect as much data to help us learn more about these beautiful creatures of the deep. Already the Aquarium has collected more video on these animals in just a few months than other studies have been able to collect over several years. Needless to say the scientist are thrilled with the performance of the SplashCam line.
